Privacy Policy
Vertex Display (com.quada.remotedesktop) · Vertex Host (com.quada.remotedesktop.phone) · Vertex Display hosts (Mac and Windows)
This privacy policy applies to Vertex Display and Vertex Host, and to the host apps for Mac and Windows (together, the "Apps"), provided by Quad-A Digital ("we", "us" or "our"). The Apps are remote desktop apps for viewing and controlling the screens of Macs, Windows PCs and Android smartphones on Meta Quest or on Android smartphones and tablets. Smartphones and tablets can also be used as a secondary monitor (an additional screen) for a Mac or Windows PC. Please be sure to read this policy before using the Apps.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
The Apps have no account registration, advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs. We do not collect personal information obtained directly by us, such as your name, address, phone number, location or contacts. As an exception, the Google Play version of Vertex Display handles the following information to manage the free trial period and purchases (see "Trial Period and Purchases").
2. Trial Period and Purchases (Google Play Version of Vertex Display)
- Trial period management — So that the start of the 7-day free trial is counted correctly even if the app is reinstalled, we store a per-device identifier (device ID) and the trial start date and time in Google's Firebase (Cloud Firestore). No name, email address or similar information is sent. No screen video, input, audio or clipboard content is sent
- Purchases — Purchases of Pro (a one-time purchase) and purchase verification are handled through Google Play's billing system. Payment information is handled by Google; we do not receive it
- Support ID — When contacting us about a purchase or the trial period, providing the "Support ID" (device ID) shown in the app's settings helps us look into it more smoothly
- If you would like the information stored in Firebase to be deleted, please contact us at the address below and include your Support ID
3. Communication Between Devices
Screen video, audio, input (taps, clicks, keystrokes and text) and clipboard text are exchanged between the devices you connect directly, within the same network or over a USB cable. They do not pass through our servers or any third party on the internet.
- Connecting requires entering the PIN shown on the host
- The PIN, input, audio and clipboard are always sent encrypted (ECDH key exchange and AES-GCM). Video is encrypted depending on your settings
- Each host has its own unique key to prevent impersonation, and the connecting device remembers and verifies its public key
- To find devices to connect to on the same network, the Apps broadcast announcements on the network that include the device name, port number and similar details (Bonjour / UDP broadcast)
- USB connection (Android, optional) — Only when you turn on "USB debugging" on your Android device and turn on "Connect via USB (Android, iPhone, iPad)" in the Mac host, the Mac host uses the Mac's adb (Android developer tool) to set up a connection path over the USB cable. To check whether this path is connected, Vertex Display periodically attempts to connect to a local address on the device (127.0.0.1). The device is not operated, and no information is read from it, for any purpose other than setting up this path. We recommend turning off USB debugging in the device's settings when you are finished
4. Permissions Used by Vertex Display (Meta Quest and Android)
- Network, Wi-Fi state and multicast — Used to communicate with connected devices and to discover devices on the same network
- Prevent sleep — Used to keep the screen and connection from stopping while connected
- Hand tracking (Meta Quest) — Used for hand-based controls. Hand movement data is not stored or sent
5. Permissions Used by Vertex Host (Android)
- Screen sharing (MediaProjection) — The smartphone's screen is sent to the connected device only after you tap "Wait for connection (start screen sharing)" and grant permission. Screen content is not stored or sent to us
- Accessibility service — Used to carry out, on the smartphone, input from a connected Meta Quest or other device (taps, swipes, text input and Back/Home). To enter text into input fields, the app refers to the screen's structure solely to find the field currently being edited. Screen content is never read and stored or sent
- Record audio (RECORD_AUDIO) and a microphone foreground service (optional) — Used to play sound that is playing on the smartphone (apps, videos, games) on the connected device. On Android, capturing playing audio relies on the "record audio" permission, so the app uses this permission and a microphone service that keeps capturing in the background during screen sharing, but it does not capture microphone audio. It does not capture call audio either
- Volume control (optional) — Mutes the smartphone's media audio only while connected and restores it on disconnect (can be turned off in settings)
- Modify system settings (optional) — Used to lower the screen brightness only while connected and restore it on disconnect
- Notifications — Used to show a notification that screen sharing is in progress
- Network and Wi-Fi state — Used to connect within the same network and to discover devices to connect to
6. Permissions Used by the Mac and Windows Hosts
- Screen Recording — Used to capture the screen while connected and send it to the connected device
- Accessibility (Mac) / input injection (Windows) — Used to carry out input from the connected device on the computer
- Detecting mouse and keyboard activity (Mac) — Used only while blind mode (the feature that hides the screen) is on, to detect whether someone at the Mac has touched the mouse or keyboard and to show a "Remove blind" button. The keys pressed and the details of the activity are not recorded or sent
- Audio — Used to capture sound playing on the computer and play it on the connected device. While connected, the computer's speakers are muted and are restored on disconnect (can be turned off in settings). Microphone audio is not captured
- Clipboard (can be turned off in settings) — Used to share copied text with the connected device
- Virtual monitor (when connected as a secondary monitor) — Creates an additional screen on the computer that matches the connected device's screen size, and sends that screen. It is removed on disconnect
- Running adb (Mac, optional) — Used only while "Connect via USB (Android, iPhone, iPad)" is on, to find Android devices connected by USB and set up a connection path
7. Data Stored on Your Devices
The following data is stored only on each device. It is not sent to our servers.
- Settings — Settings such as image quality, control method, volume and display position
- Connection information — The name, address, PIN and public key of each device you connect to, and the names of computers connected by USB (so you don't have to enter them again next time, and to protect against impersonation)
- Host PIN and unique key — Stored only on the host device
- Latency log (Mac, optional) — Only when you turn it on, connection performance figures (such as latency, frame counts and the Wi-Fi signal strength of the connected device) are stored on the Mac (automatically deleted after 14 days)
- Activity log (Mac and Windows) — To investigate problems, a summary of connections, disconnections and connection performance is stored in a log file on the computer, together with the connected device's name and network address (on Mac, the oldest entries are deleted once the log exceeds a certain size)
- Copy history (Vertex Display on Meta Quest and Android) — The history of text received through clipboard sharing is kept in memory only while the app is in use and is not saved. It is cleared when the app is closed
8. Sharing with Third Parties
We do not sell or provide your information to third parties, except as required by law. The Apps do not perform advertising or analytics, and the only information sent outside your devices is what is needed for trial period management (Firebase) and purchases (Google Play) described above.
9. Advertising and Analytics
The Apps do not include any advertising SDKs or behavioral analytics SDKs.
10. Deleting Your Data
Uninstalling the Apps deletes the settings and connection information stored on the device. You can revoke permissions such as Accessibility, screen sharing and audio at any time in each device's settings.
11. Children's Privacy
The Apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this policy as needed. If there are important changes, we will notify you on this page or in the Apps. The revised policy takes effect when it is posted on this page.
